AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the loving kindness of Thai massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. These three ancient lineages form the foundation of a unique new practice that cultivates trust, connection and playfulness. Our highest aim is to bring individuals into a state of union with themselves, with each other, and with the divine. From this place of mutual support the true self can be realized, honored and shared for the benefit of all.

love, light, flight

A traditional AcroYoga class begins with a circle ceremony to cultivate community and trust and introductions. From there, students move on to some form of an asana warm up, usually performed with partners and involving the use of a partner to stretch deeper into the asana. Inversions are also a big part of the acrobatics training and students learn techniques from gymnastics and high level acrobatics to apply to cultivating asanas such as handstand, forearmstand and shoulderstand.

Partner flying is at the root of the AcroYoga practice and comes in the forms of Therapeutic flying and Acrobatic flying. Therapeutic flying incorporates elements of Thai Massage to open and lengthen the back and relax the arms and legs- it is most likely one of the best massages you will ever receive as a flyers spine typically lengthens at least an inch over the course of a five minute flying session. Acrobatic flying requires higher levels of strength and trust as more technical moves and transitions are performed allowing the flyer to invert into asanas such as shoulderstands, handstands and deep back bends with the support of the bas

All flying sequences conclude with "leg love" where the flyer provides Thai Massage to the bases legs to allow for a gentle release. Thai massage combines massage with yoga postures to cultivate healing and an opening of energy lines in the receiver. Students practice Thai Bodywork in pairs so that they can both experience the benefits of giving and receiving "metta"- loving kindness. This is a time to honor and express gratitude to your partner.

The classes and workshops conclude with a wisdom circle to reflect on experiences and share any discoveries or new break throughs.

and the best thing of all...you can always fly while flying on an airplane...
