Dear Friends,

When I first started practicing yoga in 1995 I thought it was something that crazy basket weaving hippies did for exercise. My friends made fun of me, I refused to carry around a yoga mat, and if it wasn't for the fact that it was the only thing reversing the crippling pain in my body, I might not have stuck with it. For whatever reason, the practice did what it needed to do to heal me physically and then I was left asking the question "now what?". As divine circumstance would have it, I ended up being told I had to take a Vinyasa teacher training to continue teaching at a particular studio. So I literally picked up the Omega catalog, found the first Vinyasa Teacher Training that I could and applied for a scholarship and it happened to be with the queen of spiritual activism, Seane Corn - a teacher whom I knew nothing about at the time, and little did I know what I was signed up for.

It is usually just a matter of time before the yoga practice gets it's hold on you. Eventually you realize that you are part of a universal picture and in these times you are so desperately needed to speak out and stand up. Through my work I am constantly driven to do more as an activist to help change this world. Simply put, an "activist" is one who uses action to bring about change - and there is no shortage of need right now.

My focus is concentrated on environmental toxicity and how it relates to the toxicity in our bodies. Through the Detox series I strive to educate about the toxicity that exists not only in the foods we eat, but also the products we use and what we are putting back into the environment- emotionally and physically. There is no doubt in my mind that the alarming amount of toxicity in the environment is a direct result of our actions and what is going on inside of us as individuals. Thus if we want to clean up the world, we need to first do the work on ourselves.

In addition to donating a portion of the proceeds from every Detox series to an environmental cause, I also try to get the word out on a larger scale by writing for various eco-conscious publications. This is something that anyone can do...if you are truly passionate about something - speak up and at the very least you will find other people who share your interest...but most likely, you will inspire someone to think differently. Through awareness, anything is possible.

Through these efforts, I collaborate with and support as many environmentally conscious companies and organizations as possible. The list to the left includes my friends, sponsors and organizations who I respect and work with to try and change this world. These are quick links to companies that you can support in good conscience and also find out what their approach is to cleaning up the world. Think of this as an eco-conscious shout out if you will and in case you need a place to start you can check out the 10 things you can do for $10 or less list and get on your way to changing your world. So start small and think big...you are part of the solution, and we need your efforts now, more than ever.

With Love and Blessings,

-adi
